cast members are great at staying mum about the Pearson family's drama despite the well-hidden secrets and shocking deaths that twist the plot in new directions. But thankfully, Susan Kelechi Watson isn’t shying away from addressing her character Beth's marriage woes.
At The Hollywood Reporter's Women in Entertainment event on Wednesday, Watson and co-star Chrissy Metz broke down the cliffhangers from season 3’s midseason finale. Of course, they discussed the surprising revelation that Jack’s (Milo Ventimiglia) younger brother Nicky (Michael Angarano) is still alive, and that Rebecca (Mandy Moore) is indeed the mysterious "her" the show teased in the first half of the season.
Notably, the midseason finale also left us wondering whetherBeth and Randall (Sterling K. Brown) are getting divorced. Though Watson neither confirmed nor denied the breakup rumors, she didexplain that Beth has every right to be angry with Randall.
"It's grown folks business now," Watson told Entertainment Tonight. "We had to do what we had to do! I've never put him on the couch before. This man has put his father in, he has quit his job, he has had breakdowns. One time I ask him to do something, I put him on the couch. I mean, come on!"
